Victory!

A new step in the right direction. Most of my friends and fellow co-workers completely disagree with my viewpoints on this election and Obama and I respect their right to disagree. Put all the politics aside and I will tell you why Obama won. Most Americans voted for hope. Most Americans are tired of living in a world of fear that the Bush administration has managed to cram down our throats. This worked for the Bush administration up until the Iraq war, but no one wants to live in a country full of fear.

Remember the Terror Alert Color System? Bet you don't hear much about that anymore (maybe on Fox News). You want to know why? Cause this country is not and never will be like Iraq and so many other countries where they have to fear living their lives everyday. We are the most powerful nation in the world and everyone knows it, so it is irrational to live with the fear that we are going to be attacked every day. Plus, it is not healthy and completely counterproductive. If we are attacked, we will take it to our enemy, no matter who our leader is.

Will terrorist attacks happen again on our own soil? This is a strong to quite strong possibility. A war in Afghanistan was completely justified and we didn't do our job. Now Afghanistan and Pakistan have the highest level of terrorist groups since before the war began and Osama has not yet been captured. This is due to a certain leader starting an unjustified war in Iraq and taking the resources we needed in Afghanistan out of the country.

Another thing I wanted to congratulate is the Civil Rights Movement in America. If you asked anyone 15 years ago if they thought there would ever be a black president, I bet they would have said "Maybe in a 100 years." Martin Luther King Jr., one of the greatest and most peaceful men ever to live, would be proud of what was just accomplished. I cannot believe that just 50 years ago blacks weren't allowed to use the same water fountains as whites. Does that not boggle your mind? Just a half century ago, black human beings were not considered "human." So while there are a few African-Americans who don't respect MLK and live everyday bringing shame to him, there are many, many more who have risen up and made him proud.

I am proud of our country right now. Where we will be in 4 years, I do not know. Will Obama have all the answers? No. But I want a leader who at least can convince me that there is hope, because I haven't been convinced for the past 8 years.

Forgetting Sarah Marshall

If you have not yet seen this movie, you need to stop what you are doing and go rent it. Actually, just go buy it. I saw it opening weekend in the theaters and loved it and its finally on DVD. The conversations in the movie are priceless.

I kind of have discovered over time that I pretty much like any movie that is set in Hawaii or a tropical area. 50 First Dates, Blue Crush, The Heartbreak Kid, Forgetting Sarah Marshall... I think it goes back to the fact that I know I would be content living the rest of my life on a tropical beach somewhere making next to nothing, but enjoying where I am.

The closest thing I have is Bradford Beach. At least they cleaned it up within the last year :)

Seinfeldian

After reading my friend TF's well constructed blog, I decided to create my own for no other reason than to discuss any and everything about life. The title "The Daily Misconception" refers to nothing, yet everything at the same time.

I pride myself on being a Seinfeldian type personality. The Urban Dictionary describes Seinfeldian as "Obvious or absurd, such that it is reminiscent of NBC's "Seinfeld." I feel that most things in life are Seinfeldian in nature and I love nothing more than to bring up those minuscule topics and discuss them. Now, I understand that this can be annoying at times, much like Larry David in Curb Your Enthusiasm., but I get his character. He pushes things way over the top, but with good reason in his mind.

So I urge the readers of this blog to comment and discuss any relevant topics and conversations about daily life. I am sure to have a comment on them.
